Hougang Swimming Complex

In the Hokkien/Teochew language, Hougang means "river end." It is a residential area in the North of Singapore, and it is the most populated town in the area. Before the 1990s, a lot of the area was used for raising pigs. The farmers had to move because new homes were being built.

Hougang is self-sufficient, with numerous amenities available in the neighborhood and surrounding areas. Hougang Mall, Heartland Mall, Hougang 1, and Serangoon Shopping Centre are commercial malls offering a diverse selection of retail stores for fashion, home furnishings, electronics, casual, fast-food, and family dining options, as well as other companies and services.

Hougang swimming complex

The Hougang Swimming Complex is in the northeastern part of Singapore. People in the neighborhood can go to a public pool to swim for fun or take swimming lessons.

There is a parking lot next to the HDB, and the pool is next to the HDB. This site has a lot more parking space than the Katong Swimming Complex. The swimming pool also has a seating area that can hold up to 320 people.

This public pool in Hougang is excellent for family fun and swimming lessons. Using non-slip floor treatment, the complex makes it safe for kids and their parents to play in the same place simultaneously.

There are signs and information boards near the entrance to tell everyone that they need to wear proper swimwear while they are in the water. Before and after using the swimming pool system, always wash your hands and body with soap and water.

This should be a good thing to do when you're in the pool at any time or in any place.

Weather

From 12 pm to 4 pm, the pools aren't usually shady and are generally sunny in the afternoon. At night, it is usually not very cold. This is a good time to swim in this area because it's not very cold. Around 7 to 9 pm, the water in the competition and training pools is usually warm enough for people to swim in.

Like most swimming complexes, there is a big shelter right at the entrance of this one. Many people taking a break at work and school will be found sitting around this shelter most of the time. There is a small road for people who need to get in and out of the shelter.

Another big difference from other pools is that there are a lot of vending machines at the corners of the entrances. So you'll never have to worry about running out of snacks or needing to refuel your body after a challenging swim again.

Convenience

The complex is very close to the food center. The food courts under block 511 are right across the street. You can eat there before and after swimming.

Besides Hougang, there are eight shopping malls in the area, and these are four of the most popular ones:

Most people know about the Hougang Mall. It's near the Hougang Bus Interchange, so you can find it there. People can buy food, books, phones, and other things there.

Kang Kar Mall is a small shopping center with a food court and a two-story Fairprice store inside.

In the west of Hougang, you can find Hougang 1. This is another place where you can discover NTUC Fair price Xtra.

Buangkok Square is a new shopping mall with condominiums on top of three-story shops. There are food courts, Macdonald's, and a supermarket called Prime Supermarket in this place.
