Swimming Lesson Terms & Conditions
Registration Fee
A one-time registration fee of S$30 per student is payable upon initial enrolment with Friendly Dolphin Swim School.
The registration fee covers administrative costs associated with setting up the student’s enrollment and records. It is separate from swimming lesson fees and any applicable deposit.
The S$30 registration fee is non-refundable, non-transferable and cannot be used as lesson credit.
The registration fee is payable together with the student’s initial payment unless otherwise agreed by Friendly Dolphin Swim School.
Lesson Schedule and Reserved Slots
All swimming lessons operate according to an agreed schedule. Once a student is enrolled, the scheduled lesson slot is reserved for the student.
Lesson fees are charged based on scheduled lessons and the reservation of the student’s lesson slot, regardless of attendance, except where a reschedule is permitted under these Terms & Conditions.
Group Lesson Attendance and Absence
Group lessons operate on a fixed schedule.
Lessons missed due to personal reasons are forfeited.
A missed Group lesson does not automatically roll over, extend the current lesson package or postpone the next billing cycle.
Late cancellations and no-shows are forfeited.
Medical Absence
Students who are unable to attend a Group lesson due to illness may request a rescheduled lesson upon submission of a valid Medical Certificate (MC).
Approved reschedules are subject to available vacancies and feasibility.
Discretionary Exceptions
Friendly Dolphin Swim School may occasionally approve a reschedule for other circumstances at its discretion.
Any exception granted is considered individually and does not create an entitlement or precedent for future absences or rescheduling requests.
Private Lesson Cancellation and Rescheduling
Private lesson students may reschedule a lesson without forfeiture provided that at least 1 hour’s notice is given before the scheduled lesson.
Cancellations made less than 1 hour before the scheduled lesson and no-shows are forfeited.
Approved Private lesson reschedules are subject to availability and feasibility.
Make-Up and Rescheduled Lesson Options
Where a Group or Private lesson reschedule has been approved, the following arrangements may be offered:
Option 1 – Join an Existing Class
The student may attend a 30-minute or 45-minute lesson by joining an existing scheduled class with an available vacancy.
Friendly Dolphin Swim School will provide suitable available class options, and the student may choose from the options offered.
The available class may be at a different:
- Venue
- Day
- Time
- Coach
- Group size
No separate or additional class will be created specifically for a make-up or rescheduled lesson.
Option 2 – Lesson Extensions
Where suitable, outstanding lesson time may instead be provided through:
2 × 15-minute extensions; or
3 × 15-minute extensions.
Extensions will be added to suitable future lessons and are subject to scheduling and feasibility.
Availability of Rescheduled Lessons
All make-up and rescheduled lessons are subject to available vacancies and feasibility.
A particular venue, day, time, coach, class or group size cannot be guaranteed.
Students are responsible for selecting and attending suitable options from those offered by Friendly Dolphin Swim School.
Declining or postponing available options does not create an entitlement to a separate class, additional teaching time or a particular replacement arrangement.
Validity of Reschedules and Extensions
Approved rescheduled lessons and extensions do not have a fixed expiry date while the student remains actively enrolled with Friendly Dolphin Swim School.
Students are encouraged to clear outstanding rescheduled lessons and extensions when suitable options are available.
Rescheduled lessons and extensions cannot be exchanged for cash, refunds or credits.
Termination and Four-Lesson Notice
Students who wish to cease swimming lessons must provide 4 lessons’ advance notice.
The student’s regular scheduled lessons will continue during the notice period.
All outstanding make-up lessons, rescheduled lessons and lesson extensions must be completed on or before the student’s final lesson date.
Students are responsible for clearing their outstanding reschedules and extensions from the suitable options offered during their remaining enrolment period.
Any outstanding make-up lessons, rescheduled lessons or extensions remaining after the student’s final lesson date will be forfeited.
No extension beyond the student’s final lesson date will be granted.
No Automatic Rollover
Missed lessons do not automatically roll over to the next billing cycle.
An approved make-up or rescheduled lesson is a separate arrangement and does not change the student’s regular billing schedule.
For Group lessons, the student’s regular place remains reserved regardless of attendance.
Coach Cancellations
If a scheduled lesson is cancelled by the coach or Friendly Dolphin Swim School, the full affected teaching time will be restored.
The affected teaching time may be restored through:
A 30-minute or 45-minute replacement lesson;
Lesson extensions;
A combination of replacement lessons and extensions; or
Another suitable arrangement determined by Friendly Dolphin Swim School.
For example, a cancelled 30-minute lesson may be restored through 2 × 15-minute extensions, while a cancelled 45-minute lesson may be restored through 3 × 15-minute extensions.
Repeated Coach Cancellations
If the coach cancels 3 scheduled lessons within the same 4-lesson billing cycle, 1 scheduled lesson will be pushed forward.
Any other outstanding teaching time will continue to be restored through replacement lessons, extensions or a combination of both.
Coach cancellations are separate from student cancellations and student make-up arrangements.
Weather and Pool Conditions
Students and parents should check myENV or the relevant swimming pool hotline approximately 1 hour before the scheduled lesson if weather or pool conditions are uncertain.
As long as the swimming pool remains open and conditions permit the lesson to proceed safely, the lesson will proceed.
Rain alone does not automatically result in lesson cancellation. Safety concerns, lightning risk or swimming pool closure will determine whether the lesson can proceed.
A separate announcement may not be provided when the swimming pool remains open and the lesson is proceeding as scheduled.
Coach Travel and Lesson Commencement
Once the coach has commenced travel to the lesson venue or has arrived at the venue, the lesson will be considered commenced.
Once coach travel has commenced, a minimum of 30 minutes will be considered utilised.
This applies where the lesson is subsequently affected by weather, pool conditions, waiting time or other circumstances outside the coach’s control.
Interrupted Lessons
If a lesson is interrupted due to circumstances such as bad weather, lightning risk, pool closure or waiting time:
Interruption within the first 30 minutes:
A minimum of 30 minutes will be considered utilised. Any applicable remaining teaching time will be provided through lesson extensions.
Interruption after 30 minutes:
The lesson will be considered fully utilised, including any waiting time.
Goodwill and Discretionary Arrangements
Friendly Dolphin Swim School may occasionally provide additional flexibility or make exceptions as a goodwill arrangement.
Any goodwill arrangement is provided at the school’s discretion and does not modify these Terms & Conditions or create an entitlement to the same arrangement in the future.
Where a goodwill make-up is provided, it remains subject to available vacancies, scheduling and feasibility.
No Separate or Additional Classes for Make-Ups
All approved make-up and rescheduled lessons must be completed by joining an existing scheduled class with an available vacancy, or through approved lesson extensions.
No separate or additional class will be created specifically for a student make-up or rescheduled lesson.
Students may choose from the available class options offered by Friendly Dolphin Swim School, subject to vacancies and feasibility
Acceptance of Terms
By enrolling in or continuing swimming lessons with Friendly Dolphin Swim School, the student and/or parent or guardian acknowledges and agrees to these Terms & Conditions.
Friendly Dolphin Swim School reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions where reasonably necessary for lesson scheduling, safety, administration or operation of the swimming programme.
Photography, Video Recording and Media Use
Friendly Dolphin Swim School may take photographs and video recordings during swimming lessons and related activities for safety, security, coaching, training, educational, operational, promotional and marketing purposes.
Such photographs and videos may be used on Friendly Dolphin Swim School’s website, social media platforms, advertisements and other online or offline promotional materials.
By enrolling in and participating in lessons, the student and, where applicable, the student’s parent or guardian acknowledges that photography and video recording may take place and acknowledges the purposes stated above.
Where consent is required under applicable law for a particular use, Friendly Dolphin Swim School will obtain the necessary consent.
Friendly Dolphin Swim School will handle photographs, videos and other personal data in accordance with applicable Singapore data protection requirements.
Deposit and Termination Notice
A S$100 deposit per student is required upon enrolment.
The deposit will be held for the duration of the student’s enrolment and will be used to offset the student’s final 4 lessons.
Students who wish to cease lessons must provide 4 lessons’ advance notice.
Upon receiving the required notice, the S$100 deposit will be used to offset the fees for the student’s final 4 lessons. Any remaining balance payable for the final 4 lessons must be settled accordingly.
The deposit does not replace the requirement to provide 4 lessons’ advance notice.
All outstanding make-up lessons, rescheduled lessons and lesson extensions must be completed on or before the student’s final lesson date.
Any outstanding make-ups, reschedules or extensions remaining after the final lesson date will be forfeited, and no extension beyond the final lesson date will be granted.
